Mitsuteru Yokoyama

Mitsuteru Yokoyama (横山 光輝; Yokoyama Mitsuteru) (June 18, 1934 Kobe, Japan - April 15, 2004 Tokyo, Japan) was a famous Japanese mangaka or comic artist. Several of his creations, including Tetsujin 28-go (aka Gigantor), Giant Robo, Red Shadow, Otenba Tenshi, Babel II, Mahoutsukai Sally (Sally, the Witch), and Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san were developed into anime series. The major work of his life was the 60 volume Sangokushi, a retelling of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which won the Manga Artists Association award in 1991.

Yokoyama died in a fire at his home in Tokyo. He was found unconscious in bed with severe burns and died 16 hours later at a hospital near his home.
