Mitchell, Manitoba

Mitchell is a community in Manitoba, Canada, located in the rural municipality of Hanover, just west of Steinbach, Manitoba. Mitchell is serviced by a gas station, convienence store, seasonal restaurant, seniors centre, baseball/fastball complex and the Mitchell Arena.

Mitchell is home to several different sports teams, including baseball, hockey, and ringette. The Mavericks play in the local fastball league and the Mariners compete in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League. There is also youth baseball and softball for all ages. The hockey teams, the Mitchell Mohawks, are the pride of the community. The senior Mohawks are the two-time defending champions of the Carillon Senior Hockey League. The junior Mohawks play in the Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League. There are also teams that compete of every level in Eastman Minor Hockey.

Until 1998-2007 Mitchell was a community that consisted mainly of Mennonites.

The community is settled in a forested area with building lots larger then city lots. Mitchell has grown substantially in the last ten years. As a result, plans for a new and bigger school are in the works.
