Mitch Melnick

Mitch Melnick is a radio sports broadcaster in Montreal, Quebec.

A 25-year veteran of radio in Montreal, Melnick is the star of Montreal’s first and only all sports radio station, Team 990, and can be heard providing insight and analysis every weekday from 3pm-7pm as host of Melnick in the Afternoon; he also carries the Sports Director title.

Before signing on with The Team when the format started in May 2001, Mitch spent seven years as host of the Melnick/No limit drive home show on CIQC, which, at that time, was the longest running show on English AM radio in Montreal.

After ending his four-year stint as host of The Habs This Week and The Expos This Week, he continues to contribute at CFCF-TV on the program Sports Night 360

Among Mitch’s most important influences are Danny Gallivan, Bob Dylan, Lenny Bruce, Hunter S. Thompson, Bill Hicks, Joe Strummer and Elvis Costello. Music is a hobby of Mitch’s; he’s a member of BillyBob Productions (a music promotion company). Montreal-produced shows include Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, Jesse Winchester, John Prine, Shawn Mullins, Chris Smither, Steve Forbert, Loudon Wainwright III, Roger McGuinn, Todd Snider, Chris Whitley, Melissa Ferrick & Ron Sexsmith.
