Mitch Healey was born on May the 11th 1969. He was oen of the many players to grace the Cronulla Sharks uniform, He may have in fact been one of the best five-eights to ever wear the black white & blue.

His first start was on Saturday, March 17, 1990 against the Gold Coast Seagulls at Seagulls Stadium . He started his debut with a brilliant try to put the visitors in front for the first time in that match. The Sharks went on to win the match quite comfortably 32-2, From the moment he put on the number 6 you could tell young mitch was a force to be reckoned with.

Mitch played from 1990-2000 scoring a total of 33' tries in 223 games. He kicked 3 field goals one of which booted the sharks to snatch a win from the North Sydney Bears. Healey was a fantastic goal kicker notching up 139 goals with his golden boot. Over his career Healey scored a toal of 418 points. In his last game of his carrer with the sharks Healey scored a try against the Parramatta Eels, THis game was memorable for two reasons, not only was Mitch Retiring but so to was Andrew Ettingshausen the sharks lost two of their greats on the same day. He then went on to play in the Superleague with Castleford.

Healey who has previous coaching experience working as assistant to Souths NRL coaches Paul Langmack and Arthur Katinas in 2004, takes over reins of the under-20 Sharks from Aaron Raper. The young Sharks enjoyed considerable success under Raper, making the 2004 Grand Final and the preliminary final in 2005, before missing the finals and struggling somewhat during 2006.
