I disagree that WikiProjects are not for planning. They are definitely for planning, coordination and execution of strategy. This is absolutely the right place to have discussions about how various articles fit together and how to coordinate efforts between editors.

This only appears to be a "back room cabal" because, unlike other projects, the Catholicism-related articles do not advertise their membership in the WP:Catholicism project.

For an example of how it should be done, see the article Aztec and the WikiProject WP:AZTEC.

The discussion forums are a standard piece of project templates. See section 19 of Template:WikiProject which is the recommended template for starting WikiProjects (see WP:WikiProject). I happen to hate Template:WikiProject but that's another story.

I agree that we should not be a cabal or conduct back-room discussions. That's not what this is about. I have advertised the common discussion forum on the Talk Pages of all three of the relevant articles.

Besides, Dominick misses the point of why these subpages are mentioned on the Project main page. It is precisely to advertise the existence of those subpages to all members of the Project so that they will come and participate in any discussions taking place on those pages. Thus making the discussion more inclusive rather than exclusive like a cabal.

You mean do it like WP:AZTEC? That is your creation as well. That isn't how this works. Like I said the Catholicism project is not a cabal. Dominick (TALK) 19:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Sigh... Yes, WP:AZTEC is my creation. It was the first WikiProject that I created. I used Template:WikiProject, WP:MESO and WP:MEXICO as templates.
Check both WP:MESO and WP:MEXICO. They both have discussion forums and I am not the creator of either of those. In fact, I don't think I'm even registered as a participant in either project.
Check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity. It also has discussion forums.
I readily admit that WP:AZTEC is not the best laid-out or best-looking project page. WP:Catholicism is superior in many ways. However, it departed from standard practice in not providing for discussion forums and not providing a shortcut. I have repaired both of those deficiencies.
