Quite simply, WP:NOT a free webhost. I can find no useful contributions from this user, and he has been editing his userpage since 24 March 2006. I wouldn't normally bother with things like this, but I do not want Wikipedia userpages to turn into some version of Myspace.   • Keep: I think people should be allowed to have a user page before making contributions. User:Keops1988 is essentially a collection of userboxes which occur on many Wikipedia user pages. User:Keops1988/problems is a very short page but it looks like it is intended to be a list of problems related to Wikipedia editing. I find this to be an appropriate use of Wikipedia user pages. The page User:Keops1988/drogenciclopedia is a bit trickier to deal with. Although I think something like this should be allowed for someone who has made significant contributions to Wikipedia, I can see how some people might argue that creates a slippery slope into Wikipedia being used as a free homepage provider. However, I can't help but wonder if that is a draft of something that the user intends to contribute to Wikipedia. I would advise to allow User:Keops1988/drogenciclopedia to remain, but I would warn the user not to create any more user subpages until making significant contributions to Wikipedia, and to explain to the user what user pages are and what they are not. If there is a decision to delete any of the three pages, I would suggest at least giving the user time to save the pages and find a more suitable place to host them. Q0 18:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

hi. i see you have been monitoring my userpage for some time. i'm sorry i haven't contributed to this encyclopedia and didn't create any articles but i didn't know contribution was a requirement in order to have a user page and i didn't take time to read all those long instruction pages. i just wanted a userpage in here because i like userboxes and the way user pages look on this site and i wanted to make my own encyclopedia within my user page. i will try to write some articles if this is necessary to keep a user page, although my english is not at professional level. please do not delete my UP because i worked hard to write it and i want to keep it. btw, i am allowed to write in romanian in my UP, right? you can delete User:Keops1988/problems because that was a test page i created some day when WP was lagged and images didn't showed up on thumbs. you can tell me how to delete it if it is possible. ty. Keops1988 11:36, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Keops. I haven't been monitoring your page, just came across it recently. I might be outnumbered here, but my opinion is that userpages are for Wikipedians, and since you haven't contributed to the encyclopedia, you are not a Wikipedian. It isn't anything personal, it's just that Wikipedia isn't a free hosting service. If you wish to create your own encyclopedia, that's fine, but it shouldn't be on Wikipedia's servers. There are lots of free hosting services you could use. If you want to write in Romanian, have you considered ro.wikipedia.org? --Fang Aili talk 17:41, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Strong Keep. Userpages like these are extremely common. I see nothing especially out of the ordinary. Additionally, I see nothing in WP:NOT that says an individual must have X amount of contributions before he gets user page rights... .V. (talk) 14:29, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
    Eh? How about (from WP:NOT): "Wikipedia is not a blog, webspace provider, or social networking site. Wikipedia is not MySpace. You may not host your own website, blog, or wiki at Wikipedia." Or from WP:UP: "Wikipedia provides user pages to facilitate communication among participants in the project." People who are not Wikipedians, i.e. do not have any constructive edits, should not have userpages. Keops admits he hasn't contributed to the encyclopedia and has no interest in contributing either, therefore he should not have a userpage. I really don't see why this is controversial in the least. He can always transfer the pages somewhere else before they are deleted. --Fang Aili talk 14:49, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Delete as Wikipedia is not a free web host. It states quite clearly that "the focus of user pages should not be social networking, but rather providing a foundation for effective collaboration." The user page guidelines reiterate this as "Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Your page is about you as a Wikipedian." I'd certainly consider letting this slide if the user was an active contributor. WP:UP even mentions that this is relaxed for regular participants. However, this user has made maybe 3 or 4 edits outside of User:Keops1988 in the past 10 months. --Brad Beattie (talk) 19:08, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
