User:Mister Farkas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hi!
I am an Aussie working in California.
'Mister Farkas' is not my real name, but I've always liked the sound of it. If I had any literary skills I'm sure I would have used that name for a character in a story.
I like to read articles from the following areas
- Computer Science
- Linguistics
- Pure Mathematics
- History
- Music
For the most part I am a consumer of Wikipedia. I am very impressed by the high collective standard achieved by this collaborative effort. I don't anticipate contributing much volume to Wikipedia. For the few topics on which I would consider myself to be an expert, Wikipedia articles have existed for quite some time, and they are almost certainly better than what I would have done.
From time to time I will edit articles which have apparent errors. However, I appreciate some of the difficulties encountered when searching for the truth. More importantly, I fear the damage caused by carelessly propagating lies. So, whenever I can't be sure that my proposed changes would definitely be an improvement, I ask questions and generate discussion instead, in the hope that an expert can assist.
In some ways, I see Wikipedia as an experiment in truth collection by wisdom of masses.
