[edit] Summary
When Aelita's dreams become too much to ignore, the group heads to The Hermitage to discover their source. There, Aelita finds a doll she inexplicably recognizes to be Mister Pück. this doll is a key to a train station locker, which contains the heavily-encrypted diary of Franz Hopper. Upon its discovery, XANA takes action to insure they'll never be able to read it.
[edit] Recap
The episode starts out with another nightmare sequence featuring the strange elf. Once again, he's being chased by the wolf pack and the mysterious dark wolf with glowing yellow eyes. The dream sequence remains the same as it was in "Unchartered Territory" up until the dark wolf attacks the elf in the tree knothole. At this point, Aelita screams herself awake. One of the main differences of this dream is that the dark wolf has increased in size two to three times. The commotion wakes up Sissi. She barges into Aelita's room and yells at the half-awake girl for screaming herself and her neighbors awake every night.
The next morning, Aelita grabs her toiletries purse and enters the largely deserted Girls Shower Area. She walks through the Powder Room and enters the Shower Stalls. In the steamy room, Aelita suddenly sees the dark wolf from her dreams. It leaps at her gnashing its razor-sharp teeth. Aelita drops her toiletries, screams and runs into the Powder Room where she uses her body weight to keep the door shut. Aelita's screams alerted Sissi, who emerges from another Shower Stall Room accompanied by Claire Girard and Sophie graders. Sissi asks what is going on and Aelita begs the girls not to go in, as "there is a huge wolf in there!" Sissi pushes Aelita aside and flings open the door. She, Claire and Sophie gasp at the figure emerging from the steam. Aelita peeks around the corner of the door while Claire and Sophie giver her the "what have you been smoking?" look. Emerging from the Shower Stalls is Emily LeDuc, wrapped up in towels and looking very confused at the hubub. Sissi seizes the opportunity to make a joke about Emily's glasses and says, "A four-eyed wolf!" She, Claire and Sophie guffaw whilst Emily storms out of the Powder Room, cheesed off at Sissi and Aelita for this bad start to her day.
In the Quad, the others talk about Aelita's dreams. Odd jokes around saying that he'd be better to dream about because he's the stuff dreams are made of. Ulrich counters him by saying he's the exact opposite. In order to get rid of the dreams, Jeremie suggests they go return to The Hermitage.
At the old house deep in the city's woodland reserve, the gang does some exploring. They enter the destroyed foyer and ask Aelita to guide them. Aelita wanders up the staircase to the second floor. There, Aelita leads the group into what was obviously a little girl's room. Torn stuffed animals abound while posters of fuzzy critters and fairy talke characters adorn the pink walls. In this room, Aelita has a vision of the same dream she had at the beginning of the episode. The dream goes further this time, though.
The wolf sticks its snout through the knothole and snaps viciously at the elf, who backs up against the trunk. After failing to retrieve its quarry, the dark wolf retreats. The elf then digs through some leaves and twigs to find a hidden chest. It opens the box and an enigmatic glow of blue light emits.
Aelita wakes back up. Turning around, she sees a poster on the wall of Humpty Dumpty. She points to the tree in the background of the poster, babbling about her dream. She tears the poster off the wall and finds a rough-hewn cubby hole in the wall joists. Resting inside the hole is a doll that looks exactly like the elf in Aelita's dreams. She cradles the doll lovingly in her arms, stroking it. She says in an adoring voice, "Mr. Pück!"
The gang is in their Geometry class, waiting for Mrs. Meyer to come in. They discuss the doll, which is lying on Jeremie and Aelita's dual desk. Sissi comes by and takes the doll, mocking Aelita for still playing with childish toys. Odd, Jeremie and Ulrich spring into action and Sissi tosses the doll to Nicolas, who plays with it until Odd threatens to tear his face off. Nicolas protests and passes the doll along to Hervé. He keeps it out of Ulrich's reach until he can toss it to Sissi. She knocks Jeremie out of the way and catches it, but Aelita begins to stand up for herself. She and Sissi tug the doll back and forth, cursing at each other the whole time. Eventually, the lining of the doll partially rips and a small key falls out. Sissi dives for it, but Ulrich covers it with his sneaker, grinning. Sissi admits defeat, but only because she like Ulrich, or so she claims. Mrs. Meyer walks in to find her classroom a shambles. During the game of keepaway, most of the desks and their student occupants had been thrown to one side and several students are on the floor. Mrs. Meyer calls the room to order and dives into her lesson plan, sketching a Triangle ABC with a line segment through it on the board. Ulrich hands the key to Jeremie, who examines it. A small insignia on the grip shows a suitcase with an arrow pointing towards a compartment, and a seriel number. Jeremie shouts out excitedly that the key must be for a Train Station Locker. Mrs. Meyer, noting this outburst, asks Jeremie to repeat what she just said. Jeremie immediately belts out the Sierpińksi-Mazurkiewicz Paradox. Mrs. Meyer commends him for his memory, but since she was not lecturing on that Paradox, Jeremie gets a zero for the day. Sissi and her gang laughs at this.
That afternoon, the gang heads for the city's Metro-Rail Train Station. While the intercom announces a departure for the next major city, the gang is in the Travel Locker Room off of the main waiting and ticketing area. The locker the key correlates to is in a short row obscured by a cola vending machine. Jeremie opens the locker and finds a briefcase stuffed with Compact Discs. Jeremie examines them and, by the name on the labels, determines that this CD Collection is the diary of Franz Hopper.
The next day, Ulrich attempts to rouse Odd before the hot water runs out. Odd is snuggled up under his blanket and says sleepily, "Just a little while longer." Ulrich gives up and leaves.
In Jeremie's room, the Eye of XANA pops up on the monitor of the desktop computer.
In Odd and Ulrich's room, one of XANA's ghosts slithers out of a lamp and moves towards Odd, ignoring Kiwi's warning barks. The ghost enters Odd and he flashes black and white for a time, writhing on his mattress. The ghost soon leaves his body and wafts down the hall.
In the Boy's Shower Area, Ulrich is preping for a morning shower in the Powder Room while Theo Gauthier brushes his teeth. The same ghost that attacked Odd invades Ulrich, who displays a similar reaction. The ghost is rejected and floats away. When Odd arrives to warn Ulrich, he finds that his friend has already been attacked, but survived. While Theo gives the two odd looks, they immediately strike out to warn Jeremie.
In his room, Jeremie wonders why XANA's attempts to possess his friends failed. Odd figures it's their natural sex appeal. Once they leave, XANA tries to possess Jeremie. He succeeds this time.
On the Track, Jeremie, Aelita, Odd and Ulrich are in P.E. class. Jim is putting the class up to running today, and is lecturing the assembled group on why it is healthy for them. He calls on Jeremie to show off his running ability. After a short sprint, Jeremie seems to twist his ankle and hops around the Track in agony. Jim, annoyed at Jeremie's lack of physical strength, asks one of the students to take the injured boy to the Infirmary. Jeremie specifically requests that Aelita accompany him.
Once out of view behind the Science Building, Jeremie starts walking better. Aelita asks him if he's healed already. Jeremie's eyes light up with the Eye of XANA. Aelita screams before he knocks her unconscious with a double roundhouse kick.
On a upper floor, Yumi hears the scream and sees XANA-Jeremie take off with Aelita. As Jeremie runs into the surrounding neighborhoods, Yumi calls the others and have them take off after him. Yumi heads to Jeremie's room to get the Tower location.
In Jeremie's room, Yumi finds the CDs with Hopper's diary have been destroyed. She gets the Tower location, informs Odd and Ulrich that it is in the Ice Barrier Sector, and heads to the Park.
Odd and Ulrich are at the Track and watch Emily huff her way across the finish line, exhausted, while Jim calls her out for a horrible time. The boys get Yumi's call and spring into action, abandoning the P.E. class.
In the Park, Jeremie lifts up the sewer hatch and tosses it away like a frisbee. Odd and Ulrich are close behind. As they follow, the hatch can be seen stuck in a nearby tree trunk. This particular trip is different from the normal ones in that Odd and Ulrich are skating on a stairwell. Yumi takes the normal route.
Jeremie carries the unconscious Aelita across the bridge leading into the Factory Aelita comes to and begs XANA-Jeremie to let her go. She is silenced by a shock of violet electricity from his hands.
In the Cathedral Hall, Odd and Ulrich corner XANA-Jeremie at the elevator. The two decide they have to beat XANA-Jeremie into submission, and Odd says he doesn't want to be too rough, since it's Jeremie they're talking about. The boys' attempts to stop him are less than successful. Odd is tossed away like a rag doll and whacked against a steel column. XANA-Jeremie punches Ulrich hard in the gut and then zaps him unconscious with XANA-Jeremie's taser-hands. While Odd and Ulrich get thrashed, Aelita tries to escape on one of the cables dangling from the cross I-Beams, but XANA-Jeremie yanks it from the ceiling while sending up a charge to knock her out again. Lucky for Aelita, Yumi comes by and knocks out XANA-Jeremie with a pipewrench. The pair head to the Scanners with Ulrich while Odd stays to distract XANA-Jeremie. Odd insults XANA-Jeremie, calling him "twinkle-fingers" and hops around while XANA-Jeremie throws right and left hooks.
In the Lab, Aelita sets the Sanner sequence on a remote timer and sends everyone to Lyoko. Their trip to the Tower is cut off by four Bloks. The Bloks actually dig their way out of the ice this time. During the fight, one of the Bloks uses its ice beam to freeze Ulrich's leg. He breaks free after chipping the ice away with his katana. Ulrich then destroys one of the Bloks with his Triplicate ability.
Back in the Factory, Odd is doing all he can to distract Jeremie. He hops around the Cathedral Hall, insulting XANA-Jeremie at every chance he gets. XANA-Jeremie continues to throw punches, but only hits air as Odd quickly dodges out of the way. After making some sizeable dents and bending a few support columns, XANA-Jeremie actually destroys the elevator control mechanism while trying to make contact with Odd's skull. Odd points out the error, and XANA-Jeremie grunts in an unnatural, guttural tone. Odd then tries to poke XANA-Jeremie in the eyes, but is hindered by his opponent's glasses. Odd then dares XANA-Jeremie to chase him as he shimmies up a cable and gets onto one of the ceiling cross I-Beams high over the floor. XANA-Jeremie merely jumps three stories from a standing position and lands unfazed on the I-Beam. Odd admits his mistake and tries to run across the I-Beam towards safety. XANA-Jeremie stoops over and electrocutes the beam with his entire bean to knock him out. Jeremie then heads to the lab. Violet Shock. The zap hits Odd, who is fried and knocked out. He falls onto the upper gallery catwalk as XANA-Jeremie heads for the Lab.
In Lyoko, the Bloks unveil a new attack. One of the Bloks attacks Yumi with a ring-shaped fire blast. Yumi jumps through each one and throws one her two metallic boomerang fans at the Blokk. It misses, but she uses her Telekinesis to control the fan. It arcs around, loops back and whacks the Blok on one of its Eyes of XANA, exploding it.
It's at this moment that XANA-Jeremie materializes her. With a drone of, "Materialization:Yumi," the Japanese geisha is devirtualized and ends up on the floor of the Scanner, extremely displeased.
With Yumi gone, one of Bloks is able to freeze Aelita's leg to the ground. While Aelita tugs at the ice cast, Ulrich uses his Triangulate ability to take out the nearest Block and heads for Aelita. By now, the Scyphozoa has returned again. It floats out of an ice cave and captures the hapless Aelita. With its tenctacles, tt begins to download her memory while Ulrich battles the last Blok.
In the Lab, XANA-Jeremie almost manages to materialize Ulrich. Odd, who came to and made it down to the Lab, stops him just before he has the chance. This raises XANA-Jeremie's anger to the unforgivable level and he begins to pursue Odd tenciously around the Lab, slowly building up a huge charge of violet electricity in his hands.
In Lyoko, Ulrich manages to destroy the last Blok and free Aelita from the Scyphozoa. The jellyfish monster retreats as Ulrich presses the attack. Aelita takes off for the Tower while Ulrich forces the Scyphozoa back.
In the Lab, XANA-Jeremie has a charge built up and is ready to incapactiate Odd with it. Yumi catches XANA-Jeremie's fist, but is promptly tossed into the wall and rendered unconscious. XANA-Jeremie pins Odd to the floor and draws energy from the entire Lab to make a monstrous taser charge in his hands to use to kill Odd. Odd quakes at the sight of XANA-Jeremie glowering unmercifully down on him, building up an every-bigger charge.
Aelita deactivates the Tower just before XANA-Jeremie can deliver the lethal jolt to Odd's body systems.
XANA's ghost is rejected by Jeremie's body and the boy faints on top of Odd.
Afterwards, the gang is discussing why Jeremie was taken over while Odd and Ulrich weren't. They believe it has something to do with the fact that Odd and Ulrich constantly go to Lyoko. This must build up some kind of immunity to XANA. Jeremie, however, has only gone into a virtual setting once, in the episode "Ghost Channel" and has only attempted to go to Lyoko once, and he didn't manage to get there that time, instead, getting himself stuck in virtual limbo, in Frontier. So he never went to Lyoko before and is therefore much more vulnerable. In order to protect Jeremie, they decide to send him to Lyoko.
In the next scene, Jeremie stumbles out of a Scanner and vehemently declares that he will never step foot in Lyoko again and says he would rather be possessed than be in Lyoko. Ulrich asks, "Why? Just because of a couple of Megatanks?" Yumi and Aelita are waiting in the elevator. Aelita asks what Jeremie looked like in Lyoko and Odd says, "How can I put this tactfully?" Ulrich picks up where Odd left off and says, "Ridiculous!" Everyone has a good laugh at this.
The episode ends on a peaceful note. In Aelita's room that night, she is sleeping serenely with Mr. Pück snuggled against her body. The nightmares have fled with the presence of this doll, and an audio clip of Aelita's dream is heard. In it, a little girl's voice is heard saying innocently, "Come on Mr. Pück. Let's go for a walk in the garden."
