Mist County, Minnesota
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mist County is the fictitious setting of Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon. The story goes that it does not appear on the official maps because when Minnesota was first surveyed, two teams of surveyors started from either side of the state and didn't quite meet in the middle, by dint of a mistake in their math. The county was therefore "missed," and named "Mist" county.[citation needed]
