Route 69 was one of the original 1922 state highways. Its northern terminus was at Route 13 in Bolivar and its southern terminus was in Springfield. With the creation of the U.S. Highway System in 1926, Missouri 13 was rerouted to Springfield and Missouri 69 became part of Missouri 13.
