Mission Hills High School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mission Hills High School is a high school located in San Marcos, California. It first opened in August 2004 on forty acres of land that used to be part of the local dairy. It has many career-oriented programs such as the academies of Business, Law Enforcement, and Culinary Arts. It is home to Jack Ashby Field and its mascot is the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies also have an spectacular football team. Head Coach Chris Hauser led the team to go to the CIF Championship but unfortunatley lost to Helix High School, not allowing them to go to Qualcom. Their cross town rivals are the San Marcos Knights.

[edit] The Cardinal Alliance

The Mission Hills High School marching band is under the name of "The Cardinal Alliance." Named after the school's colors and main color of the marching band's uniforms, the Cardinal Alliance is directed by Jeff McNurlan. The Band is unusually skilled for its size (there are 55 members in the program) and its third season has finished with them undefeated in their division. What makes this even more impressive is that they are the size of a small 2A class band, competing in 3A.

[edit] Theatre

Mission Hills High also has a very advanced performing arts program including classes on Technical Theatre, Beginning Drama, Intermediate Drama, and Drama Production. Mission Hills High School and San Marcos High School used to have a joint performing arts program but as of September of 2006 they are now separate.

The Mission Hills Basketball program is doing very well in the 2007 season, finishing in the Valley League with a record of 24-5, and will be competing in the post-season CIF Playoffs.
