The Miss BC World contest was created in 2005, as a preliminary to the Miss World Canada contest. The Miss World Canada competition is the preliminary for the Miss World competition.[1] For the first ever Miss BC World contest, held on July 30th, 2005, there were 12 girls from across the province competing for the title. The contestants competed in categories such as: Private interview, evening gown, speech presentations, tourism presentations, and talent presentations. The winner of the Miss BC World 2005 pageant, Sasha Abunnadi, will be representing British Columbia at the Miss World Canada contest, in July, 2006.[2] The Miss World Canada pageant will be held in Toronto.

The Miss BC World director (as of 2006), and founder of the Miss BC World competition, is Darren Storsley.[3]

The 2006 Miss BC World competition was held in July 2006 with Natalie Standke being crowned as the new Miss BC World. She will be leaving for Toronto as the only representative for BC the second week of March for the Miss World Canada pageant.[4] .[5]

Operated by the same organization is the Miss Teen BC World contest.[6] Alex Keiser of Pitt Meadows was named Miss Teen BC World in March of 2006.[7]

The Miss World Canada organization is branching out to hold provincial competitions in each province, to determine representatives for future Miss World Canada competitions. One other such event, Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant, can be found here.
