Miscarriages of Justice Organisation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Miscarriage of Justice Organization (MOJO) is a charity dedicated to human rights and to changing the criminal justice system in order to reduce the number of miscarriages of criminal justice and increase the level of professional after-care for victims.

After the experience of his wrongful conviction, Patrick Hill, one of the Birmingham Six set out to assist people who claim to have been wrongfully convicted. The Miscarriage of Justice Organisation is a voluntary sector non profit making organisation and a registered charity.

The general public becomes aware of MOJO's involvement in a case during the final stages of the appeal process or when there is a high profile involvement (for example, in the case of the murder of TV presenter Jill Dando and subsequent conviction of Barry George). What the public tend not to realise is that for years before these cases come to public awareness, organisations and groups have been fighting to undo a wrongful conviction.
