"Misadventure of Mighty Plumber" is the twelfth episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
[edit] Synopsis
Bowser is furious because he's planning to rob the Pipe Maze's Coin Treasury, but can't think of a way of how to do it without Mario foiling his plans. He is then informed of that Larry is pulling things from his television using his wand - an idea that Bowser decides to use to his advantage. Using Larry's wand, he warps Mighty Plumber, Mario and Luigi's favorite TV superhero, into his castle and tells him that two evil plumbers are trying to steal from the Pipe Land Treasury, and he needs help hiding it from them.
Meanwhile, at Toad's House, the Mario Bros. have been watching The Adventures of Mighty Plumber and are wondering why the titular character has suddenly disappeared. A Ptooey suddenly delivers them a fire message from Bowser about his plan to steal the Pipe Maze Treasury. Sure enough, the Mario Bros. arrive to stop Bowser, who has already convinced Mighty Plumber to fight them. The Marios escape into the Treasury with Bowser and Mighty Plumber in hot pursuit.
Upon arriving at the vault he was going to rob, Bowser reveals the truth to Mighty Plumber, who loses his confidence as a result of this. But the Marios reappear and help Mighty Plumber back on his feet. Upon returning to his castle, Bowser gives the stolen Coins to Larry, but Mario jumps on him and makes him put Mighty Plumber back in the TV world, and then he uses Larry's wand to transport the Coins back to the treasury.
[edit] Trivia/Goofs
- Prior to this episode, Michael Maurer previously wrote for Donkey Kong on The Saturday Supercade.
- This plot of a superhero was reused in the Captain N episode, "I Wish I was a Wombatman" and the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode "Over the Hill Hero", both which were also created by DiC.
- When the Mighty Plumber show returns after commercials, the background on the set is shown to be Bowser's Castle rather than the kitchen it's supposed to be set in.
- When he and Luigi meet Mighty Plumber, Mario claims that they "brought [their] TV from Brooklyn so they could watch [his] show." This seems impossible, given that the Mario Bros. stumbled into the Mushroom Kingdom warp zone by accident (as shown in the animated segment intro on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show) and obviously did not have their TV with them when it happened. However, considering how frequently the characters visit Earth in this series, he probably meant they went back to Brooklyn to pick up a TV.
- Since the episode takes place outside the "real world," there is no explanation on how "Mighty Plumber" appeared on the Mario Bros.' and the Koopa television sets.
- When the Piranha Plant rips the bottom of Luigi's overalls, the rip shows that Luigi doesn't seem to be wearing underwear.
