I did some clean-up work on this article. I only used the existing article -- no additional research. Some of my edits were grammatical, other stylistic. I also fixed some of the wiki-links in the article, a number of which linked to redirect pages. Pentegamer 16:01, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

One more thing: the most substantive edit I made to the article was deleting the phrases "from west to east" and "from east to west" from the description of Atlantic/Pacific transits. Those descriptions are almost certainly geographically incorrect. The canal in general runs from the northwest (Atlantic entrace) to the southeast (Pacific Entrance). I'm not sure if Miraflores locks, by some quirk, actually work the way the original author stated, so I just deleted the reference instead of replacing it with what I believe to be true.
