The suburb has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the subdivision of bushland, on which housing developents have been built, especially north of Yirrigan Drive. The suburb has traditionally been considered to be very much a "working class" area, but with the recent developments, this is changing. Mirrabooka has gained a vibrant flair over recent years because of large numbers of immigrant groups coming to the area.
