Miroslav of Croatia

Miroslav was the King of Croatia from 945 until his death in 949 and a member of the Trpimirović dynasty.

He was the oldest son of Krešimir I and succeeded him as king in 945. During his reign Croatia suffered a civil war started by the followers of his brother, Mihajlo. During these internal struggles, the Croatian Kingdom lost the coastal cities and the islands of Krk, Osor, Rab and Vergada that returned their allegiances to the Byzantine Empire, while Vis and Lastovo were conquered by the Neretvians under the Serbian Prince Časlav Klonimirović. Prince Časlav used the civil war and took Croatia's Bosnian territories to the river of Vrbas by 948.

The Croatian navy was reduced to only 30 ships. Miroslav's infantry and cavalry had even more devastating losses in the civil war until Miroslav was finally killed by Ban Pribin in 949 and his younder brother, Mihajlo Krešimir II succeeded him as King.
