Miranda Taylor Cosgrove [1] (born May 14, 1993 in Los Angeles, California) is an American child actress. Her career began in 1996 when she was spotted by an agent who was so impressed by her singing and dancing in a restaurant called Taste of LA that he signed her up for a number of small roles such as commercials. Since then she has appeared in a few films and had a starring role in a children's comedy, Drake & Josh.

Cosgrove was born in Los Angeles, California and currently has no siblings.

Cosgrove co-stars on the television series Drake & Josh. She playes " Megan Parker " the scheming sister of Drake, and the new step-sister of Josh. In the 2006 TV movie "Drake & Josh Go Hollywood" she again played Megan. In the 2003 film "School of Rock," starring Jack Black, she had a major role, a student named Summer Hathaway. She also had a role in "Yours, Mine, and Ours". Her role in this film, named Joni North, was the sister of Dylan North (Drake Bell), who coincedently plays her brother on "Drake & Josh". In 2006, she had a minor role in the film, "Keeping Up With The Steins" which explains how Bar/Bat Mitzvahs can become an excuse for an elaborate party, rather than a religious ceremony. Karan Sussman was Miranda's character in this comedy. Miranda Cosgrove also guest starred in a number of TV shows including Grounded for Life and Unfabulous and has appeared in a few TV commercials for several companies, including McDonald's and Burger King. She will be playing the title role of Carly in the new Nickelodeon series iCarly.
