[edit] Some questions

I'm not sure there is such an organisation, this article definitely lacks any source or reference to it. I can't find an external website - the nearest being the RAF's firefighting section. Also there's a bit of a wildly sweeping statement that suggest the MODFS was created as a direct result of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004. I'm familiar with that act and it's not - in any case I've just scanned the act to check - no mention of it. Any help sourcing this would be appreciated, otherwise I think it might well become a candidate for deletion. Escaper7 10:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Another point on the FRSA 2004 - it only applies to England and Wales so how would that explain the situation re MOD property in Scotland or elsewhere? Escaper7 21:59, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Addition of external link

The link added bears no relation to the title of this article - for me it's still all a bit too confusing. Escaper7 12:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Article title

May need to be changed, found this link[1] which would provide the rationale for a name change to Defence Fire Service (with caps) - I'm struggling with other refs to Ministry of Defence Fire Service. Any thoughts? Escaper7 08:19, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Further Comments by Author

A link has been provided at the bottom of this page - will you please visit the site linked as it states quite clearly it is for the Ministry of Defence Fire Service Training school - as you can see it is a GENUINE MoD website address and I can not see why you are so confused as to whether this organisation exists.

I understand you were a serving fire fighter - if thats the case you should know about the MoD fire services!

As I commented before there is very little about the MoDFS on the net.

This is for various reasons and mainly because the MoD has only recently started to make publically available details of various of it's smaller support departments etc.

The old MoD Fire Services (consisting of the "Defence Fire Service" and Raf fire Service) were an administrative nightmare - they came under various military departments or commands dependant on where they served, had a civillian cheif officer despite being part military and there were no national recruitment campaigns - Defence Fire Stations recruited locally when required.

The MoD Fire Service was brought about after the introduction of the Fire & Rescue Services Act 2004. It is basically just a change of name. Many fire brigades changed there names at this time from simply "Fire Service to Fire & Rescue Service" to reflect their new roles.

It was a similar case here for the MoD to reflect a change in the way it did things brought about by the framework and legislative requirements of the Fire and Rescue Service Act 2004

Finally id just like to make comment about having time to contribute to Wikipedia.

You stated that you should not add things in drips and drabs and would wait till everything was together and then put it into an article in one go - well thats just the problem i physically am way too busy to do that and unfortunately i have to keep coming back to things - it isn't ever normally more than 24 hours so don't see the problem.

I'm on call 24/7 and inbetween incidents, paperwork, trying to have time for my family it is extremely hard to try and put an article together all in one go -

Why not have a look at my article on Drakelow Tunnels to give you an idea of what I can produce. As i say most articles are finished in two days - but remember people are often busy so it may take longer!
