Mino, Kagawa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mino (三野町; -cho) was a town located in the former Mitoyo District, Kagawa, Japan. On January 1, 2006 the town merged with six other towns from the district forming the city of Mitoyo and no longer exists as an independent municipality.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 9,704 and a density of 501.76 persons per km². The total area was 19.34 km².

Mino had a sister city relationship with Evansville, Indiana.

Mino was home to the Iyadani Temple and the Tsushima Shrine, which is only accessible two days a year by train in early August.

The city of Mitoyo gets half its name from Mino, the other half is from (豊田郡)Toyota-gun.
