Minnie Rojas

Minervino Alejandro Landin (Minnie) Rojas (November 26, 1933 - March 24, 2002) was a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the California Angels from 1966 through 1968). Rojas batted and threw right handed. He was born in Remedios, Villa Clara, Cuba.

In a three-season-career, Rojas posted a 23-16 record with a 3.00 ERA and 43 saves in 157 games pitched.

In 1967, Rojas led the American League with 27 saves, setting also an Angels franchise record that was broken in 1985 by Donnie Moore, who collected 31 saves. His major league career was abruptly ended after the 1968 season when he was paralyzed in an automobile accident. The accident killed his two daughters, but his wife and son survived.

Rojas died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 68.
