Minnesota State School for Dependent and Neglected Children

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Minnesota State School for Dependent and Neglected Children was located in Owatonna, Minnesota from 1886 to 1945. During those years, it was home to a total of 10,635 children who were orphans or had been abused or abandoned.

In recent years, the State School cemetery has been restored, and a small museum is located on the former State School grounds. Several former residents have written memoirs of their time at the school.
