Minnesota State Highway 194 is a highway in northern Minnesota which runs from U.S. Highway 2 in Solway Township to Interstate 35 in downtown Duluth. For part of its route, it runs together with U.S. Highway 53.
Minnesota State Highway 194 is 18-miles in length. The west terminus is in Solway Township, just northwest of the city of Hermantown. The east terminus is the Mesaba Avenue interchange with Interstate 35 in Downtown Duluth.
Highway 194 is a spur route into the city of Duluth. Route 194 is also known as "Central Entrance" and Mesaba Avenue.
Highway 194 is "duplexed" with U.S. Highway 53 for a 6-mile stretch, from Lindahl Road in Hermantown to Trinity Road, near Duluth's Miller Hill Mall. This four-lane stretch of Highways 53 and 194 are also known as the Miller Trunk Highway in the cities of Duluth and Hermantown.
Originally, this highway was designated State Highway 94. However, it was re-numbered as 194 around the year 1959 to avoid duplication with the new Interstate 94 highway that was being built in another part of Minnesota during the early 1960s.
