The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs is a Dutch ministry with as head the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, currently Maria van der Hoeven. She is aided by a state secretary Frank Heemskerk.

[edit] Mission

The mission of the Ministry is to "promote sustainable economic growth in the Netherlands." It focuses on the key areas of "Knowledge economy and innovation," "Competition and dynamic" and "Room to do business."

The political responsible of the ministry is in hands of the Minister of Economic Affairs, who is part of the Dutch Cabinet. Normally, a State Secretary is at the Minister's side, internationally called the Minister for Foreign Trade.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs has also a civil service department, lead by the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General. The Ministry consists of four Directorate-Generals: Foreign Economic Relations, Economic Policy, Energy and Telecom, and Enterprise and Innovation. There are also some support departments.

Two Independent Administrative Agencies which are independently ran are also part of the Ministry: Statistics Netherlands and the Independent Post and Telecommunications Agency. Eight agencies of the Ministry are:
