From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Minister of State, who has special responsibility for the Marine, officially styled as Minister of State at the Department of Communications, Marine & Natural Resources (special responsibility for the Marine), is a junior ministerial post in the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (Ireland). The Minister works together with the senior Minister at this department and has special responsibility for public safety and environmental protection with regard to Marine affairs. The Minister of State does not hold cabinet rank. The current position should not be confused with the previous post of Minister for the Marine, which existed between 1987 and 1997 and held cabinet rank.
The current incumbent is John Browne, TD, who took up the post in 2006.
