Minister for Sport and Tourism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Minister for Sport and Tourism is a junior minister in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport of the United Kingdom government, with responsibility for sport and tourism in England.
The post is currently at Minister of State level, and the incumbent is responsible for both the sport and tourism portfolios. The position of Minister for Sport was previously at the more junior Parliamentary Under-secretary of State level, and was combined with other portfolios such as heritage. The sports minister has at various times reported to the Department of National Heritage, the Department for Education and Science and the Department of the Environment.
Both sport and tourism are devolved matters, with responsibility in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland resting with the corresponding ministers in the Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly Government, and while the Northern Ireland Assembly is suspended, the Northern Ireland Office.
