Mineral is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tehama County, California, United States. The population was 143 at the 2000 census.

Mineral is located at 40°21′20″N, 121°34′2″W (40.355686, -121.567333)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 115.3 km² (44.5 mi²). 115.2 km² (44.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.04%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 143 people, 67 households, and 42 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1.2/km² (3.2/mi²). There were 450 housing units at an average density of 3.9/km² (10.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.50% White, 0.70% African American and 2.80% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.69% of the population.

There were 67 households out of which 20.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 1.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 32.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.69.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 19.6% under the age of 18, 2.1% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 35.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 107.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 117.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $39,107, and the median income for a family was $42,813. Males had a median income of $40,938 versus $27,083 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,865. There were 10.4% of families and 12.1% of the population living below the poverty line, including 3.8% of under eighteens and 27.8% of those over 64.
