[edit] License tagging for Image:M2763t.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:M2763t.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Vuillaume

[edit] Gaetano and Pietro Sgarabotto

I have deleted Gaetano and Pietro Sgarabotto as a copyright violation from http://www.moennig.com/fall83.pdf. Do not create any more articles with copyrighted text, or you may be blocked. Sandstein 04:57, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your concern. The author of the article is a friend, and I will be sure to get him to post it officially for you.

But I would ask that you put back the article in the meantime, because there are no other problems with the article. If you wish to delete that portion and direct it to the original print, that is fine. As I stated earlier, I will be in touch with the author and have him authorize it himself. Again, thank you for your sincere concern(s). User:Milliot 30 March, 2007

Thank you. To avoid copyright problems, we require that all donated text be explicitly released under the GFDL, the free licence that our content is subject to. That means you must first formally request permission from the author. Please proceed as described in Wikipedia:Confirmation of permission. In the meantime, we may not publish the text. I have moved it to your user space, User:Milliot/Gaetano and Pietro Sgarabotto. You may move it back only after permission is confirmed on the talk page by means of a {{PermissionOTRS}} tag.
There is also a problem with the images, such as Image:Pietro Sgarabotto and David Oistrakh.jpg. They are from 1965 - are they really by you personally and do you own the copyright on them? If not, you must also request permission for them. If they have been published already, you must indicate their source. Thanks, Sandstein 05:14, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Pardon but if the issue is over only one section of the page, why have you deleted the entire page again? Do let me know. Thank you. User: Milliot 31 March, 2007

Again, if the issue is over one photo and small section of the text which incidentally did have attribution to the authour (Philip J. Kass), why are you deleting the whole page. That seems puzzling. Please extrapolate. Thank you in advance. BTW Philip J. Kass is a respected expert, appraiser, consultant and writer on fine classic stringed instruments and bows.

From 1977 until 2002, he was an associate of William Moennig & Son, Ltd. of Philadelphia, where he handled many of the world's great stringed instruments. His training in expertise came from William Moennig III, William Moennig Jr., and Dario D'Attili, and this he supplemented through his own independent travels, inquiries and explorations.

Mr. Kass has published numerous articles in The Strad and the Journal of the Violin Society of America as well as in such other periodicals as Smithsonian and Strings. He also prepared numerous entries for both the previous and current editions of the New Grove's Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians. Many of these have been based upon his own original research into English and French bow making and the violin makers of Piedmont, Cremona, and the Amati family. In 1998 he was a guest speaker at a conference in Cremona commemorating the three hundredth anniversary of the death of Andrea Guarneri and the birth of Giuseppe Guarneri 'del Gesù'. his email is PJKASS@comcast.net As i have said, I will be in touch with him regarding that particular article.

Incidentally, the article is used with permission by Maestronet: Please see the full article at http://www.maestronet.com/m_library/world_strings/fall83.pdf (Selected World of Strings Newsletters Provided courtesy William Moening & Sons, Ltd, used by permission on Maestronet.com).

For the meantime, I believe it should be OK to have a link directing to http://www.maestronet.com/m%5Flibrary/world_strings/index.cfm (Selected World of Strings Newsletters Provided courtesy William Moening & Sons, Ltd, used by permission on Maestronet.com)

I have posted the article without the text and the photo that you objected to. Please let me know if there is anything you would like to add to these very important Violin Makers of the 20th century. User: Milliot 1 April, 2007

[edit] Vuillaume

User:Milliot 2:22, 3 April, 2007 (UTC)
