[edit] Football teams on same sideline

The comment intrigues me. The picture seems to show teams on both sides, and certainly there is enough room for a team on each side. One source I googled says teams occupied the same side because one side had poor sight lines. That's really hard for me to imagine. So what's the scoop? BlongerBros 23:51, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I believe what you're seeing is photographers and staff on the first base side - the teams did indeed sit on the same side of the field.[1][2] I haven't heard that sightlines dictated this, but will look for reference. --Chancemichaels 17:58, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels
My guess would be that the benches were on the outfield side so as not to block the sightlines of the spectators in the low-rise box seats on the first base side; and that this put both benches in the sunlight, which would have been a good thing to have on a cold late-fall day. You could be right, but in the absence of any confirmable information we should stick to the facts and avoid speculation as to why. --Chancemichaels 22:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels
Including the statement "had to". It suffices to say that they occupied the same side of the field. Wahkeenah 23:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. If we can come up with any verifiable information as to why, then we should put it back. Until then, I think the section works pretty well - thanks! --Chancemichaels 15:01, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Chancemichaels
