Milo divincenzo

Milo Divincenzo (1973- ) is a contemporary artist known for his colorful, provocative, pin-up style images of zoftig asian girls. Milo studied photorealist oil painting at the California College of Arts in Oakland, California from 2002 to 2004. There is no record of Milo's pin-up art having ever shown in a premier gallery, yet there is a constant demand for the exhibition of his work among trendy, off-beat forums such as bars, nightclubs, hair salons, and erotic art exhibitions. Milo's artist statement, which can be found on his promotional website [www.planetfeathers.com], reads as follows:

I am usually more intrigued by what I refrain from saying during conversation with others, than I am with the conversation itself, for it is what we think but do not say that is the most fascinating and individual part of ourselves. A work of art can create the same internal dialogue and it's consequent battle with socially acceptable expression. My interest in pinup art developed partly because of the archetypal beauty commonly depicted; tall, slender, physically fit, almost impossibly proportioned Aryan beauties so coveted by modern society. However, the archetype is not the most popular image in adult content on the world wide web, and certainly a rarity in everyday life. Publications like playboy still present the wasp "pinup" girl as an idyllic embodiment, but do the majority of men genuinely desire the image, or has it become taboo to present anything else as "desirable"? The most interesting aspect of showing my artwork is the discomfort it can cause. There is nothing uncomfortable about my work. The colors are warm and vivid, the scenes are happy and sensual, and the subject is never intrusive or confrontational. However, somewhere within the artwork a rule has been broken, yet so few viewers are willing to openly define (or defy) that rule. Watching the internal battle ensue before me is reward in itself.
