Millfields Primary School

The spacious school grounds are located on the outskirts of Wivenhoe next to open countryside, and offer outstanding views across the river estuary out to the sea. Our site contains two hard-surfaced playgrounds, sports pitches, playing fields, and nature areas for the study of wildlife, an activity trail and a ‘living maze’ with pathways through trees, shrub borders and flower-beds.

Millfields was awarded the Schools Curriculum Award for its work in developing and strengthening positive links with the local community.

Our aim is to provide a caring environment for children. We offer a wide range of balanced learning opportunities for all children to help them grow into independent and responsible people.

Our school was presented with the School Achievement Award in 2002 for achieving better results in 2001 than other comparable schools.

Our school aims and philosophy can be summarised as:

‘Caring People; Happy, Confident Learners; High Achievers.’

At present, there are 210 children on roll aged from 4 to 11, and we have a highly talented and motivated team of teaching and support staff. An office manager, two administrative assistants and a site manager support the management team. All stakeholders are strongly encouraged to fully participate in school reviews and contribute to whole school policies
