From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Milivoje Novakovič (born 18 May 1979) is a Slovenian footballer currently (as of August 2006) playing for German 2nd Bundesliga team 1. FC Köln as an attacker. He is a Slovenia international and came to Köln from the Bulgarian PFC Litex Lovech, where he rose to prominence. He has also played for the Austrian club LASK Linz, having began his career with Olimpija Ljubljana.[1] With Litex he reached the UEFA Cup 2005-06 round of 32, came third in the Bulgarian A Professional Football Group and became the championship's top goalscorer.
After a number of impressive performances for Slovenia and Litex, notably a hattrick for Slovenia against Trinidad and Tobago,[2] he has been linked with German team 1. FC Köln,[3] Israeli team Beitar Jerusalem FC[4] and Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia,[5] but he nevertheless played for Litex in the UEFA Cup 2006-07 against his compatriots FC Koper and AC Omonia from Cyprus despite his wish to continue his career in a different team.[6] He finally joined 1. FC Köln in late August 2006 for around €1.5 million.[7]
