Military of Madagascar

The military of Madagascar contains a number of branches - the Popular Armed Forces, which includes Intervention Forces, Development Forces, and Aeronaval Forces (the Navy and Air Force), the Gendarmerie, and the Presidential Security Regiment.
People in Madagascar from the age of 18-50 must either serve 18 months in the military or in civil service.[1]
The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency World Factbook estimates that the military budget accounts for 1.1% of the country's gross domestic product.[2]
