Mildred G. Swift

Mildred G. Swift was a cooking show host on TV Station KNOE in Monroe, Louisiana in the 1960's and 70's. Following the lead of contemporary Julia Child, she had a thirty-minute cooking show that aired after the local news. She gave tips on home cooking favorites like meringue, piecrusts, special candies, and meals for the family. Her cookbook is still available today (Looking at Cooking, Favorite Deep South Recipes). Mildred G. Swift was one of the first people to perform cooking on television in an educational entertainment format.
