Milam Glacier

Milam Glacier is located Munsiyari, in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand, India, at an altitude of 3,872 m. It has a spread of around 37 kmĀ² and is 16 km long, surrounded by 52 high Himalayan peaks. It lies at the base of the great Himalayan wall and situated on the south facing slope of the main Himalayan range. It originates from the slope of Kohli and Trishuli peaks. The subsidiary glaciers coming off the peaks of Mangraon (6,568 m), Deo Damla (6,637 m), and Sakram (6,254 m) on the eastern rim of the Nanda Devi sanctuary flows into it. It is fed by the Nanda Devi on the west, and the Ralam Gad and the Pyunsani Gadhera emerging off the western flank of the mighty Panchachuli, Rajrambha and Chaudhara peaks and Kalabaland-Burfu Kalganga glacier system from the east. This mixed glacier system is the source of Goriganga river, which originates from the south of Milam Glacier. Munsiyari is the base for trek to Milam.
