[edit] Wikipedian categories
I thought I would get a jump on helping right away : ) - jc37 21:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Quote:
- Just some cricket categories to go, and then all we have are the hard decisions: category:Wikipedian programmers, category:Wikipedians by musical instrument, category:Wikipedians with current projects, and category:User languages. Those make me shiver.--Mike Selinker 16:31, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Let's see if this helps:
[edit] Skill Level adjective
- (are) beginner; or (have an) introductory;
- intermediate
- advanced
- expert
- native
- humble
use "a" or "an" in the following as appropriate
[edit] Computer Programmers
- Wikipedian computer programmers
- Wikipedians who are <skill level> computer programmers
- Wikipedians who are <programming language> programmers
- Wikipedians who are <skill level> programmers of <programming language>
[edit] Musical Instrument
- Wikipedian <skill level> <instrument> players
OR
- Wikipedian <skill level> <instrument> + ists
- (accordianists, pianists, vocalists, etc)
- (depending on usage)
[edit] Language
- Wikipedians who are <skill level> speakers of <language>
OR
- Wikipedians who have a <skill level> understanding of <language>
- (which do you prefer?)
- Wikipedians who have a <skill level> understanding of the <language> script
OR
- Wikipedians who have a <skill level> understanding of the <language> alphabet
- (depending on usage)
[edit] Use of Not
Each of the preceeding groups could have "not" placed after the verb of being (is/are), or could have "do not" placed before "have".
(These would be the "zero" level languages, etc.)
Examples:
Programmers:
- Wikipedians who are not computer programmers
- (etc)
Instruments:
- Wikipedians who do not play the <instrument>
OR
- Wikipedians who are not <instrument> + ists
Language possibilities:
- Wikipedians who do not have a <skill level> understanding of <language>
- Wikipedians who do not understand <language>
- Wikipedians who do not speak <language>
- Wikipedians who do not have a <skill level> understanding of the <language> script
- Wikipedians who do not have a <skill level> understanding of the <language> alphabet
- Wikipedians who do not understand the <language> script
- Wikipedians who do not understand the <language> alphabet
Note: In thinking about the "use of not" categories, I am beginning to think we should just delete them. If we add "those who do", to "those who do not", we will have a listing of all Wikipedians. - jc37 02:59, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
