Mikel Alonso Olano, commonly known as Mikel Alonso (born May 16, 1980 in Tolosa, Spain) is a Spanish (Basque) footballer who currently plays for Real Sociedad in Spain. He wears the number 22 shirt at Real Sociedad and is a midfielder. He is the son of Real Sociedad legend Periko Alonso and the older brother of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. His first match in Primera División was in 22 April 2001, against Real Valladolid. Last season, he was the most used footballer of Real Sociedad, he played 37 matches, followed by the goalkeeper Asier Riesgo and the defender Mikel Labaka.
