[edit] Controversy
Randall wrote in the July/Aug. 1997 issue of The Baptist Preacher (a reprint of his earlier article that appeared in the April 22, 1988 issue) that the only perfect Bible was "the original manuscripts." Furthermore, he claimed that copies of the manuscript have allowed us to read the Bible today "as originally written." This meant that the contemporary Bible "could be used to represent copies made of those original writings." Thus, while Randall would claim no translation is perfect, he would say the Bible is the word of God due to the "faithfulness" to the original writings.[1]
