From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mike Quinn (6'4", 220 pounds, Stephen F. Austin 1996, born April 15, 1974 in Houston, Texas) is a football quarterback. For the past eight years, Quinn has been a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos. He also spent time on the Montreal Alouettes' practice roster in 2005. Prior to the 2006 CFL season, Quinn joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In training camp that year he competed against Kevin Glenn, Russ Michna, and Brad Banks, and ultimately made the team as backup behind Glenn and ahead of Banks on the depth chart.
Quinn started his pro career in 1997 joining the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. He dressed for one game that season, completing one of two passes versus the Baltimore Ravens on November 9. He spent the rest of the season as the Steelers' third quarterback.
In 1998 he joined the Dallas Cowboys, after attending the Steelers training camp. He appeared in three games for the Cowboys, completing one pass for 10 yards in a game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. He also dressed for 14 games as a back-up with Dallas in 1999.
Quinn joined the Miami Dolphins in 2000 and dressed for 14 regular season games and two playoff contests that season. He returned to the team the following season but was removed from the team prior to the start of the 2001 regular season.
The Texas native was then taken in by the Houston Texans and spent most of the 2002 and 2003 seasons on the NFL team's practice roster. He attended training camp with the Denver Broncos in 2004 and saw limited action, including a six-minute, 13-play drive that ended in a two-yard pass to draw the Broncos to within two points in the closing minutes of the 2004 Hall of Fame exhibition game versus the Washington Redskins. Resigned by the Pittsburgh Steelers and added to their practice squad in 2005, while Charlie Batch, the Steelers back up, was injured. Quinn was released at the end of the season.
On August 28, 2006 Quinn was released by the Blue Bombers after a disappointing start against the Toronto Argonauts. Quinn completed 33 of 62 passes for 355 yards, 3 TDs and 5 INTs with the Bombers during the 2006 CFL season.
