Mike Haridopolos

Mike Haridopolos (born March 15, 1970 in Huntington, New York) is an American politician of the Republican Party who currently represents District 26 in the Florida Senate (2003 - ). His District currently includes parts of Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Osceola Counties in Eastern Florida.

Prior to his election to the State Senate in 2003, Haridopolos was a member of the Florida House of Representatives (2000-2003). Haridopolos was a History Professor and department chairman at Brevard Community College in Melbourne, Florida (1993- ) and has co-authored a book.

Haridopolos has been mentioned on several websites as a possible candidate for the United States House of Representatives when Dave Weldon vacates the position, possibly to contest the United States Senate seat of Democrat Bill Nelson in 2006. Haridopolos was on the short list for the Lt. Governor under Charlie Crist, the 2006 Republican nominee for Governor of Florida.
