Mike Halloran is the music director and afternoon DJ for San Diego alternative rock station FM94/9 (call letters KBZT). A veteran of alt rock radio, he is well-known in the industry for his offbeat interview style. In 1998, Halloran was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Diego Music Academy.
Halloran was a nighttime DJ at 91X from 1986-1989 and became music director in 1989. After the departure of Kevin Stapleford in 1995, he became program director for 91X for several months before Jacor Communications purchased the program rights to XETRA-FM (91X's call letters) in early 1996. His next stop on the San Diego radio dial was XHRM (92/5). After a stint at KLYY (Y107) in L.A., Halloran returned to San Diego at KFSD (92/1 Premium Radio) until he joined forces with Garett Michaels in 2002 to launch KBZT (formerly an 80's format station) as an alternative gold station.
Halloran was also popular at WDET FM public radio in Detroit, where he was host, along with Jason Slaughter. They were DJ's of "Radios in Motion" a new wave show that aired on WLBS, WLLZ and finally on WDTX in Detroit, MI in the mid 80's.
