Mike Gallego

Michael Anthony Gallego (born October 31, 1960 in Whittier, California) was a Major League Baseball infielder.

Mike's career lasted from 1985 to 1997. Mike played for the Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Cardinals. He made his major league debut on April 11, 1985 for the Oakland Athletics, and played his final game July 23, 1997 for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played the role of everyday second baseman for the Athletics during their three year run of A.L. Championships ('88-'90) and World Series Championship ('89). He was known more for his glove than his bat throughout his career. Mike attended the University of California, Los Angeles.

Gallego was named the Colorado Rockies third base and infield coach in December 2004. He and his wife Caryn have twin sons, Nicholas and Joseph, and a daughter, Allison.
