Mike Frier

Mike Frier (born March 20, 1969 in Jacksonville, North Carolina) is a former American football defensive end/defensive tackle in the NFL. He played collegiately at Appalachian State University and professionally with the Seattle Seahawks and Cincinnati Bengals.

Lamar Smith, his teammate with the Seahawks, was charged with vehicular assault in 1994, he was drinking and driving prior to a car wreck that left teammate Frier paralyzed from the neck down. Smith in a legal settlement was forced to pay a portion of his salary for his entire career to Frier. He also had a daughter named Mikkell Frier who now resides in Federal Way, WA, and is 13 years of age.
