Robert Michael Bellotti (b. December 21, 1950 in Sacramento, California) has been the head coach of the University of Oregon football team since 1995. He has led the Ducks to nine winning seasons in ten years, missing a bowl game for the second time in 2004. His accomplishments at Oregon include an 11-1 season and #2 national ranking in 2001. He was previously the head coach at Chico State University in California and Woodland High School in Woodland, CA.

His record at the University of Oregon stands at 97-48 . Although he has only been the Head Coach for 10 years, he already holds the school record for most wins as a head coach . He is also the only coach in School History to have three 10 win seasons (2000, 2001, 2005) . Having victories in the Fiesta Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Sun Bowl, and Las Vegas Bowl, he is the only coach in school history to have four post-season wins.
Bellotti, in recent years, has been on the list of top choice candidates for other coaching jobs at other universities. Before the University of Southern California hired Pete Carroll, whom was not their first choice, Bellotti was atop the list of desired candidates. Most recently, the University of Notre Dame considered Bellotti as a choice before choosing Charlie Weis.
His program has not only produced fine results in his ten years as head coach, but has also given the NFL outstanding players such as Joey Harrington, Kellen Clemens, and Haloti Ngata.
Bellotti has a 4-6 NCAA football bowl game record as a head coach having gone to 10 bowl games in the last 12 years (1995 - 2006). He has lost the last four bowl games he's coached.
He isn't just known for his coaching abilities, but also for his generosity. He sponsors an annual golf tournament, the Mike Bellotti Golf Classic—which raised a record $98,000 in 2003 in its ninth year. In addition, he donated $25,000 to the UO Libraries in 2002 to kick off the establishment of the Bellotti Family Fund. He has three children; Luke, Keri and Sean. His oldest son, Luke is a walk-on junior kicker for the Ducks this season.
Bellotti coached teams sometimes fade as the season progresses. Reference the 2002, 2004, 2006 seasons. One of Bellotti's most famous calls was against Minnesota in the 2003 Sun Bowl. Leading by a score of 30-28 in the final seconds and his defense on the field Bellotti chose to call timeout, allowing Minnesota to run the needed play to get into field goal range and kick the winning score. In the days that followed Bellotti defended his decision by stating he wanted the ball back to try and run a play with a chance to win the game.
