[edit] Last warning on vandalizing images

I've kindly asked you to follow Wikipedia policies and you reluctantly agreed, now only to go back on that. By removing the deletion notices on those images, you are vandalizing. I have asked you nicely, to simply add a fair use rationale to prevent the images from being deleted and instead of doing so, you continue to remove the deletion warning. You could have written fair use rationales for all of "your" images that are subject to deletion in the same amount of time you have been revert warring with me. Furthermore, you have continued to re-add fair use images to your userpage, even though this is against policy. I have asked you to stop. I have given you the opportunity to explain your actions. You have essentially ignored me and called me a vandal. Consider this your final warning. The next step is to ask another admin to review your actions and possibly block you. I obviously won't block you as that is a conflict of interest. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 07:04, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

As per recent discussion, CSD I6 has been modified. Apparently now game-screenshot images and the like no longer need a detailed fair use rationale. I have removed the deletion notice from your images where this previously was the case. Now this doesn't mean that images shouldn't have a fair use rationale, it just means they no longer need one to prevent them from being deleted. I still strongly encourage you to write a fair use rationale for each of your uploaded images. Also, fair use images on user pages are still not allowed, so please remove them. Thanks. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 12:17, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Undelete!

Unfortunately, I don't know which pages you'd like to be undeleted. You see, the contributions page doesn't keep track of deleted pages. Would you be able to give me the titles of the pages which need undeletion? Thanks, Martinp23 22:29, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

I've undeleted {{trainz}}, but I'd prefer to leave the Wikiproject for JzG, as it wasn't "user request" as far as I can see. TRS2006 has never been deleted, so there's nothing for me to undelete, and I'm afraid that I have no knowledge at all of the topic, so don't have any idea what the other pages could be. It would help if you could give wikilinks to all those you know were deleted, and post such a list to my talk page and JzG's page. Then we can both look through and undelete whee appropriate. Thanks, Martinp23 22:39, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
OK - I've done that page, and all the images linked from it. I suggest that you go through them and check the licensing, as some of they say "I stole this...". Martinp23 22:52, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sig

Hey, I saw your question at the Help Desk. I'm not sure if that's the best signature, I wondered if you're aware of the policies at Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages in reference to signatures that are especially long in code or especially eye catching. It's up to you, of course, but I figured I'd let you know that that sig (and your current one, maybe) might bother other folks. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions or want to discuss anything. Peace, delldot | talk 02:04, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, no clue. The help desk wasn't helpful, huh? delldot | talk 20:10, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Entertainment Now

I do not understand why you have deemed the creation of a legitimate page 'vandalism'. Entertainment Now is a start up soon to be launched in the UK, eTalk has no relation to it other than it being a past name, why re-direct 'Entertainment Now' to 'eTalk' when there is now a legitimate need for 'Entertainment Now'.

I take great offence in you deeming my company unworthy of a wikipedia page.

[edit] Your signature

Your signature, --真夜中(talk)(contrib)7

is far, far too lengthy, characterwise, when someone goes to edit a page. You are seriously inconveniencing other editors with this. In addition, Signatures that obscure an account name to the casual reader may be seen as disruptive. Both points are discussed at Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages#Customizing your signature.

I strongly recommend that you change this before someone asks an admin to intervene. -- John Broughton | (♫♫) 19:07, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Surprisingly, a similar message has just been left on your Uncyclopedia page. --192.117.149.21 16:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Regarding your posting on my talk page, that certainly meets the length criteria; but the relationship of what is visible to the user name is, I think, still quite problematical.
What I had in mind was something more like this:
>> 7 << (talk)
That's about the maximum length I think is tolerable, and the "7" plus the coloring have an adequate relationship to the name (in my opinion, anyway). I note that I deleted the "contributions" link entirely because if someone really wants to get to that, it's only one more click away, and - quite frankly - most of the time when I look at user contributions, it's because I'm trying to judge just how much of a problem an editor is (e.g., if total vandal, then report to WP:AIV), and my judgement at this point is that you're not a problem.
Anyway, I hope you'll decide what to do with this without much further effort being put into it (you don't need to tell me, but if you'd like any further advice, of course I'll offer my two cents) and turn your focus to article improvement and fighting vandalism and other things that really help the project. -- John Broughton | (♫♫) 22:16, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
And if you want to cut the length further, take out the border, which really doesnt' make that much difference. -- John Broughton | (♫♫) 02:26, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
You wrote that signature (besides the text)' is the same as another user. I'm not exactly sure what this means - that just the border, background, and font colors are the same? I ask because for most people, it's the text that matters most; colors are a secondary way of remembering a signature. And with 1.5 million articles here at Wikipedia, I'd guess that the chances of you and the other user(s) with that color scheme actually ending up posting to the same article talk page is really pretty minimal.
It's your call, of course - you don't need to do anything (just wait to see if anyone complains about your current signature). But I don't think duplication of color scheme with another user is any problem at all unless the text of that user's name is close to yours.
And, for what it's worth, there is a user named Who cares, but that account has had exactly one posting (to its user talk page), roughly a year ago. -- John Broughton | (♫♫) 13:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userpage design request

User:Buchanan-Hermit/mega-sandbox <-- I couldn't get it EXACTLY the way you wanted it, but would this suffice? (And I echo the complaint about your signature -- it's far too lengthy. The simpler the better, in most cases. I used to have a long one like that and it did inconvenience a lot of people.) -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 06:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Due to technical limitations, I couldn't make the image TOTALLY unclickable or make rollover captions. That's the best I can muster. -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 06:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Start over

Can you please fill me in on what happened first? -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 06:54, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[With apologies for unsolicited advice:] You can start over anytime you want. The policy on sock puppets says A sock puppet is an additional username used by a Wikipedian who edits under more than one name. This probably could be clearer - there isn't sock puppetry unless a user goes back and forth between multiple accounts.
If you read the policy closely, you'll find it differentiates between "okay" sock puppets and "not okay" ones; closing one account and starting another is clearly okay.
What isn't explained in any policy that I know of, but I've seen repeated references to in discussions in various places, is that it's absolutely acceptable to start over with a new user name as long as this isn't done to evade blocks. You're not, so you're okay.
Finally, a suggestion: if you change user names, it's best to make sure you can't go back to your old one, by (a) deleting any email address you have on file, so you can't be mailed a new password, and then (b) creating a password you won't remember (typing out a bunch of random letters), then using copy/paste to change your old password to the new password, and then (c) logging out. (You also might want to blank your user page and user talk pages except for a brief note saying that you've decided to start over, and try to do better (or whatever) the next time, and of course do this before logging off.) And it's really best to stay away from articles you're edited in the past under your old username.
Hope this helps; if it isn't clear, just drop me a note. I hope you'll continue to contribute to the project; in my book, anyone who decides to start again with a new username should go ahead and do so. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:32, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
