Midnight Runner is a novel by Jack Higgins published in 2002.

Sean Dillon, ex-IRA operative now employed by Brigadier Ferguson in the British government. Now his enemy is Kate Rashid, the only surviving sister from a previous adventure (Edge of Danger), where he killed Paul Rashid and his brothers. Sean Dillon is described as a short man, no more than five foot five inches with fair hair. At the age of nineteen Dillon played Lyngstrand in Ibsen's "Lady from the Sea." When his father was shot in the crossfire between the IRA and a british paratrooper regiment, he joined the glorious cause. While flying medical supplies into Bosnia he is captured and saved in the nick of time by Brigadier Charles Ferguson. He makes a deal that he will be rescued if he comes to work for British intel. This is one of his many adventures to fight terrorism and become a close friend to such people as Hannah Bernstein, of Scotland Yard; special branch but Ferguson's personal minder too.
