Middleton Cricket Club, based in Middleton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester are an English cricket team currently playing in the Central Lancashire League. Basil D'Oliveira played for the club in the early 1960s. The 1st XI came 10th in the First Division. While the 2nd XI finished sixth in their Division. Their current professional is South African Arno Jacobs. He has batted 24 times for the club with 3 not outs, scoring 1005 runs. He has an average of 47.86 and a top score for the season of 118.

The leading amateur player is overseas amateur Luke Muller. He finished top of the batting and bowling for Middleton. He batted 24 times and was not out 3 times with a high score of 83*. Overall he scored 739 runs with an average of 35.19. In the bowling department he was also top and he finished fourth in the league. He bowled 338.3 overs of which 47 of them were maidens. He took 72 wickets, conceding 1265 runs. Finishing with an average of 17.57.

But disappointingly the 3rd team lost the Trevor Roydes cup final last Sunday. On an unusally poor batting pitch the scoring was low. With Reece Jones top scoring with 22. Middleton were all out for 70. With five players getting ducks. Radcliffe made hard work crossing the winning line. But managed to do it with eight men back in the pavilion.

The match was brought alive by one sparkling moment. A stunning catch by Matt Collins that nearly won the match for Middleton. "Well at first I thought, 'I've got no chance to catch this'. But I pedalled backwards. And without needing to look at the ball I stuck my hand out and wrapped my fingers around it. After I caught it I didn't know what to do".

Cheekily, the scoreboard building has the same windvane design (Father Time replacing the bales) as that of the Marylebone Cricket Club, whose initials are also used by Middleton.
