Middle East Airlines Flight 438 a Boeing 720B, callsign CEDAR JET 438, was en route at an altitude of 11,300m (37,000 ft) when the aircraft disintegrated in flight and crashed 20 nm northwest of Al Qaysumah, Saudia Arabia.
An investigation concluded that a high explosive had detonated in the forward cargo compartment.
