The college is best known for its vocational training (especially in nursing) and its partnership with Central Michigan University also located in Mount Pleasant. The college's growth has been impressive and it is expanding its classroom and technical space at a rapid pace. In June 2006 it broke ground on a large science and allied health building in Mount Pleasant. The college was joyed by the shocking announcement that Rock Guitarist Devon Holden would be attending "Mid" in 2006. It is unknown how long he will stay at the school.
