Yeah, baby. That's my real name. And I sign my posts.
So what do you want to know? My credentials? That's an argument from authority, but I'll front: B.A. Brown University, Major: Classics(Greek and Latin) and Math. M.A. University of Toronto, Department: Near and Middle Easter Civilisation. Ph.D. candidate, currently ABD, Brown University, Department: History of Mathematics.
We are all neurotic, but we are neurotic about different things. I am neurotic about footnotes and fact checking.
I am about 150 pages into a dissertation. Sadly, I could probably produce a two-page bibliography of sources which claim that the material about which I write does not exist. This is because most "research" consists of repeating what other people said. If it's really scholarly, they will tell you where they heard it. Few people check the original sources. Even fewer look for new evidence.
I am that person. --Micahross 00:52, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
